This was so lovely to wake up to today! The rhythm, as well as your words, were peaceful, calm and a cake recipe! Bonus. I so enjoy and admire your writing-so evocative without being overly much. Hope the weekend hike is splendid! xx
What a glorious surprise, Prue, to receive such a gem of a read as a Thursday treat! Have a fabulous hike - I can't wait to read all about it in a future post!
Hi there, Rebecca! Your lovely comments are timely - reminding me to pack a map! Mind you, the last time we went bush, my other half took a turn to the right instead of the left and we ended up on a narrow track with faint music coming from the bush - I swear it was Duelling Banjos! Scary country...
🤣 LOL! To be honest, I'm pretty rubbish with maps, even when I remember to take one! I like to work out a route before I go, and look out for (literal!) signposts along the way. I quite like the OS Maps app on my phone, because it has what I'd call a 'you are here' arrow - BUT it usually confuses me as much as a paper map does (which is a lot)! 🤣
Perhaps surprisingly for someone so geographically challenged, I absolutely know my left from my right. Ask me where north is, though, and I'll be absolutely scuppered....!
I wonder what was going on in the bush that time? The mind boggles!
You definitely had more than 1 good thing to celebrate. Cakes, walks with pooch, ballet and hubbys birthday sound glorious. Beautiful descriptions painted with words. ❤️
I love the practice and discovery of finding wonder and contentment in an "ordinary" day. None of them are, really, are they? If you happened to catch Scratch this week (not a veiled hint, I promise) you will have seen that I'm not much of a baker. But both cakes sound scrumptious. I wrote about my own favorite citrus cake at some point. I'll have to dredge that one up.
I think you are right - no day is predictable or ordinary and do we really want them to be anyway? Variety is the spice of life, isn't it? But yes, I'm coaching myself to try and find only the best of every day.
I hope to read Scratch tonight... where we are staying has such patchy internet that the WiFi keeps dropping out. I always look forward to your postings and will enjoy, I know.
Ohh Tasie I’m quite envious. I’m a a bit envious of Gavin....all the cake. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your trip Prue x

Sabrina, thank you so much.
It's lovely to take your compliments away for the weekend. And I do hope to write about the trip away. Take care and enjoy your own weekend.
