I loved this post more than I can say. I would be delighted to join your postcard community! I have been longing to reach out to like-minded people, but not online (given the billionaires running the show these days).
The Tai Chi video…the form is absolutely exquisite. It makes my own daily Tai Chi practice (learned online) seem very clunky indeed! I will have to give this a try. Although the graceful hand movements in Tai Chi generally seem quite beyond me!
I’m going to look for the film you recommended, The Way, my Way—I’m very drawn to the Camino myself…but like you, I’m happy to have my own little pilgrimages in our woods.
Re postcards, thank you so much!!!!! Go to my website (pruebatten.com) and send me an email with your address through the contact point. I will reply with my address and we'll be underway! How cool! I just love the idea of going looking for yummy postcards. If I had the time, I'd honestly love to hand-make mine. Maybe when the Monster has grown a little bit more...
The world is following the mortifying actions of our barely elected leader and shame floods my cheeks. What else to say when things are so far beyond the control of a simple hard working unwealthy American who will certainly pay the price(s).
I signed off too, Prue. I'm a yoga girl but always looking for something to keep me young and balanced.
Oh, thank you for getting the post card round-robin off the ground! I got distracted by 'the stuff' happening which is a terrible excuse. Sending postcards is EXACTLY what we need to be doing instead of fretting.
I love the video of the tai chi you posted. In the Chinatown neighbourhood of San Francisco, there are always small groups of practitioners in the parks and squares. They move with such grace and fluidity: I love to watch and envy their skill. I heard about a class in Plymouth here in the UK but apparently they move with speed in a more aerobic way that seemed 'wrong' to me so I never investigated further. I will be looking for them when I am there again next week...
I hope this works, Sabrina. So far, no emails have arrived yet...
Tai chi is beautiful. I used to use it as a grounding process before meditation and I haven't done that for awhile. I found my hands doing the movements and yet if I tried to remember that form in total, I know I wouldn't be able to. Strange the way our minds work.
And yes, that skirt! It is $A70.00 and I honestly feel like buying it just because. (even though I have nowhere to wear it!) They have a dozen or so colour choices and I can't make up my mind between grey, coffee or blush.
Get it, get it!!! I bought a beautiful black long taffeta skirt fully lined that fits like a dream (or did) at a deep discount. I’ve never worn it but it makes me so delighted just seeing it in the closet. And I remember now that we’ve got our tickets for Glyndebourne in May this year, so maybe with a rosey top this could be my chance! Point is-sometimes the beautiful thing is worth it for the joy. And when we meet we will wear our skirts!
Love this idea, count me in. This will put a little joy back into my life after very hard news this week. I'll have something to look forward to. 💚 Thankyou such a fab idea.
I've started the wheels in motion for a stem cell transplant, which might buy me some extra time. Cancer has increased to next level. But I'll take each day as it comes and enjoy every minute. 💚 taking deep breaths every day X
Yes, that was right. Thank you, Maree, this will be lovely. Hopefully emails will start coming through any minute . If not, I'll have to see my webman! And perhaps brioadcast my address on Substack which I'm a little bit loathe to do.
Thank you for the mention of our postcard project. We are deeply affected in Canada by the trump on and off again tariffs and constant remarks that we should be the 51st state. We felt Americans hardly knew what was going on in the sovereign country that was their largest trading partner. Maybe a POSTCARD from CANADA would be a bridge.
I would be pleased to be part of your postcard project. Absolutely delightful idea!!
Oh Alice! Thank you. Let's get the mail flying. if you go to www.prubatten.com and contact me through there with your postal address, I'll reply with mine. Then somehow we need to share addresses with everyone, don't we? Not sure how to do that except to make a master list which I could email to everyone...
Prue, everything about this is open, inviting, and exquisite. Having studied karate for six years, I am enchanted with but not a student of Tai Chi. How wonderful that you've practiced for 40-some years! Do you study on your own, or in a group? I'm enamored!
I worry about the reliability of the postal service between us, but I'd be willing to give a postcard exchange a try.
Though you've indicated feeling otherwise in various posts, Prue, your wisdom shines in this one!
Late to the party here but of course count me in for the postcard project! I will hold back though having just seen your 'Scrabbling' P.S!
Well you and I have had a very similar week as I too was lured down several political rabbit holes and then the subsequent post-mortems with the news-obsessed darling that I live with.
To be fair, we DID get a new and seemingly very competent/intelligent Prime Minister this week so it seemed appropriate to hear what he had to say. ("Canada will never be part of America" was an oft repeated theme - but we can never hear that too often!!)
But honestly, the state of the world! Everywhere! It's like the Pandemic-vibe all over again but somehow WORSE. This week I must step away. Thank you Prue for this post and its lovely distractions and talk of the Puppacinno once more! Hopefully you will soon start finding those baby needle teeth scattered throughout the house lol! xo

Done! Thank you so much for this wonderful idea!
Me, too, Susan!
I’m in! I would love the idea of finding a surprise in the mailbox after a rough day at work…also browsing and finding fun and lovely cards to send🩷🩷🩷
Yay!! Joy in a bleak time, thank you🥰
Triffic, Vicki! Have a look at the instructions in my reply to Susan and I can't wait to get started!

Maree, I hope your angst is eased a little now. Take a deep breath although I'm sure you're taking plenty. XXXX

Brave, brave lady. My thoughts are with you. Honestly, it puts the goings on anywhere else right into perspective. Much love.
Just followed Susan's instructions, hope that was right

New post coming this moment. With apologies...

I had a pen pal as a youngster and thought it was terrific! Since my body is the only thing that's aged, I'd love to join the postcard community!
If I get to wear beautiful silk pajamas(?) I may take up Tai Chi, too! 😊
I've just emailed you.
Let the mail begin!
