Isn’t it interesting the feelings that flood our body when we think we’ve killed our phone? Something that such a short time ago didn’t exist and now is almost a part of our body. I find it very interesting to ponder. I do wonder if our phones are the latest version of a cult?

But my real question is where do watch Shetland? I love that show but since it’s no longer on free tv I’ve not been keeping up?

Hi Kate. You’re an Aussie? Series 6 is on ABC at the moment - next episode at 11:30 this morning according to the FreeView app. And you can watch it on ABC iview. Technology to the rescue again. It is ridiculous how dependent we are, but what useful devices if used sensibly. Hugs and best wishes from a fellow Aussie. 🤗🤗

Kate, this is the latest series (7) just released in the UK - Tosh has had a baby and Jimmy Perez has been cleared of wrongdoing and is back as DI. We're watching it on Britbox. But it's on Prime and Binge too. Series 7 hasn't been released in Australia yet on free to air.

A quick comment before I head off to vote - my sister and I are also avid iPhone SE users. They released an iPhone SE 2022 last year. Same size as the old one but upgraded so they’ll last a bit longer! Still fits in my back pocket (or my little cloth crossbody walkers bags!). Absolutely recommended.

And yes, your delightful garden is SO serene! Happy, happy sigh. The white flowers look like aquilegas / columbines / grannies bonnets! I have lots of them in the old pinky red but the new variations are so pretty. I’ll look up what you called them later to see if that’s yet another name for them. 😃

I love living in the country. A swamp wallaby decided it wanted to vote! It bounded across the busy main street going Yes Yes Yes and raced back across absolutely terrified going No No No!! Poor thing.

My aquilegias are whites and blacks in the tiny city garden and in the big coastal garden we have blues and whites. Fabulous staunch old cottage flower. Epimediums are different to aquilegia. A really delicate flower with low spreading foliage.

Will chase up the SE 2022 for future reference, thanks so much. First though, I need to order a more suitable flip cover from China ($US4.) as the $A25 one I purchased in town doesn't fit in my back pocket!!!!!

Ooh yes. Similar looking flower but a very different plant! Lovely little things. And good luck with all the phone-related matters. 🤗🤗😘

The phone. Our link to the world. A must when one has elderly parents. That and I always purchase flight insurance. I must be able to cancel easily if the inevitable happens unexpectedly. Here’s to many more years for our beloveds.

Enjoy them.Sadly mine have been gone for quite some time and there's not an hour of any day that I don't wish for them back. XXXX

Oh Prue, so happy to hear your phone survived. I too cling on to the smallest iphones I can get my hands on. Now I have an iphone 12mini which is pretty sweet and small. Early on in my smart phone days my boss dropped his into the toilet and regaled us all about it. Lesson so far learned!

And I am in love your white flowers in your gorgeous garden. I had just this week decided that we needed some bright white flowers for our garden so your photos are an inspiration. Now to find similar here for this less warm climate...but I am now doubly inspired.

And many thanks for the mention. It was such a pleasure for me to be able to find a use for my photos beyond taking up space in my hard drive, getting seen only occasionally as I flip through remembering that year in Lyon.

xx

Noting that phone for the future, Sabrina!!!

Re the gardens - our climate, being as far south of the equator as we are, is a temperate climate (in as much as we can label anything in a time of climate change), so English gardens do well in Tasmania. Most of my plants are English. But this next couple of years of a dry and hot El Nino will test them. I'll report back. XXX

Ah ha. Thanks for enlightening me, and even better news in terms of me being able to look for similar plants here. And yes, to adjusting for climate change. I'm finding many of my California drought planting strategies are becoming more and more helpful now. xx

Oh Prue, I'm so sorry to hear about the sad butterfly - but hurrah to your patience, the bowl of rice and of course the phone!

I loved my 5 - it was such a nice size - small but with substance. I forget even which model my current phone is - it is a hand-me-down later-than-5 one that came my way when my husband upgraded his. I'm very grateful, but again, it's the pocket thing! 🤣

Such a lovely post - I'm so glad the phone story had a happy ending. Your garden is absolutely beautiful - oh, and HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY for next week! 🥳

Hi Rebecca - I confess I'm pretty chuffed at the phone's durability. But the new cover is a pain, increasing the phone's size, so that everytime I sit down (on chairs and carseats, not toilet seats!) the phone now slides out of my pocket. First world problem of course.

And thank you re next week.

Oh -- sad butterfly with soggy wings. I'm so glad you were able to revive it!! My husband's is an iPhone SE. (Is that the same as yours or a slightly newer model?) He prefers the smaller size, and lost his last one to an accidental dunk in one of our Chesapeake Bay rivers--classic mistake of one foot on the boat and the other on the dock. I can recall only one toilet calamity on my part, and the phone survived, but the knee-jerk reaction of "saving it" lingered with me for days. :cringe:

Wishing you happy celebrations ahead, and a wonderful new orbit! You are ever-young in spirit.

Hi Elizabeth. Thanks for commenting. I did get a giggle with your toilet experience because that's my experience as well - erk!

In respect of the phone size, I just hope mine hangs in there long enough for Apple to introduce a small phone for small people. It makes sense - I'm 5'3'', my pockets are small, I don't carry a handbag everywhere and there are important hands-free times (dogs, grandchild, climbing onto the boat, gardening, walking).

I could wear a fanny pack, I suppose, and sometimes, when I have no pockets (shorts/leggings days) I do have a special hip pouch with space for phone, dog treats and poo-bags but I don't wear it on cold days as I have pockets in jackets.

Maybe I'm just destined to drown my phones no matter what. Some people are just like that, you know...

I have a newer version of the iPhone, but it's so damn big! My old flip phones fit in every pocket, but not this behemoth! Size is my only complaint, otherwise I love it.

My Mac Air laptop was seven years old when I took it to the Apple store, preparing to upgrade. The salesgirl called her colleague over to see what (to them) must have looked like a dinosaur. They seemed amused by some of the older features.

And buttercream frosting is a weakness for me...it would make anything taste better, regardless of any other missing ingredients!

It's bizarre, isn't it, when we take our old technology to these whizz kids?

The thing is that the old technology usually lasts better!

And what is it with size and phones? Those tiny flips were brilliant! I'm terrified of losing my phone down the loo!

Frosting (icing in Oz) is delicious, isn't it? Mum's recipe for coffee icing was a bit of this, then that, a bit more and so on so that it could be hit and miss but it works every time.

Thanks so much for commenting.
