A week ago, he became very ill - vomiting. Being a pup, he became very dehydrated quickly. So our vet hospitalised him on a drip for the day. He bit through the line in the first instance but they sorted that and then he just received visits and adoration all day apparently, to the manner born.
Oh no! Bear! He really did some damage to you! Oh my goodness! Sigh. A reminder to us all that we have gentle sides and impulsive sides. Neither is particularly wrong, they’re just different. Thanks so much for sharing this all with us. He’s an adorable little soul! Sigh. (And the world will still be there waiting when we surface again….) Wishing everyone all the best.
Hi Beth. He is adorable. Just not nice, sometimes. I do hope he grows out of it.
Yes, watching the world is now a day to day thing, which is why I need to escape. I seem to remember the summer just before Covid hit Australia and we sat idly on the beach making facetious plans in case the virus breached our shores.
Now here we are making not-so-facetious plans as the world spins out of orbit.
I am struggling to find the right place for me to live within this unsettling and scary world. I have to say the bush by a river is looking mighty fine right now.
I lost a dear friend last night and along with world news, I felt so flat today. So I went for a swim - water was clear and relatively calm, it was just me, and I sloughed off some of the despondency. Beach and the sea? Bush by the river? Both sound pretty damned good.
What a lovely escape for a few moments, just as you intended. I haven't looked at the news yet today and it is 10:20 in the morning. This may be a first for me, and it feels wonderful to Inton a bit, as you recommended. Your carefully crafted words were so lovely and evoked perfectly calming images. Thank you for that.
So sorry to hear about your friend; no matter the wonderful life lived, it is still hard to let go. Hope your recent memories will sustain you for a bit.
And your wonderful & malicious pup! Take care of those wounds! And enjoy the healing waters. The music was a beautiful rendition of Pachelbel! I'm going to stay in this happy place for as long as I can...
I'm drowning in the news today. Aghast, hypertensive. So I'm off to finish defrosting the fridge and then going for a swim which is the ultimate healer for me. Pupsicle is fast asleep.
Thank you for the written respite! A walk along the water ...perfect! And I love the heart on the wee one's nose!
This semester, The Cardinal Singers are singing The Earth Song, Undivided, One Voice, and What Happens when a Woman Takes Power...A marvelous repertoire of strength, gratitude, and resilience! Singing with these young women lifts my soul during these times.
Darling pup - and yes, I would be wearing chainmail! LOL Thanks for the music, just what I needed this morning. And what an exciting interpretation on such a lovely instrument!
Thanks so much for this truly delightful and uplifting post, especially that EXTRAORDINARY video of Pachelbel's Canon performed by a goddess. Now I will get up off my butt, get my little Ginger ready for a walk, and go outside to BREATHE and walk by the river.... 🙏
I'm glad you can breathe a little, Karen. I'm about to go for a swim and do the same. To try and slough off the filth of today's presidential onslaught. And I don't even live in the States.
Thank you, Prue, for caring about what is happening in the world, and for knowing when it's time to step back. We are of little use to one another if we are stressed and depleted ourselves.
And now we know what has become of Zelensky's visit to Washington. I have never witnessed anything more infuriating or humiliating. These "leaders" are unhinged!
Thank you for taking me away from it all for a few minutes with tales of your rough and tumble Bear. That heart on his nose is the most perfect sign I can imagine!
Also appreciated the video/music. I've never seen that kind of instrument before, and isn't she masterful as she plays them all?! There is so much we don't know about each other.
Golly, Elizabeth. I feel as if I've been run over by rampaging bulls after the news from the USA today. I've gone back to Facebook and read more than is good for me and shared any accounts in support of Ukraine. It's the only way I can deal with a fraught situation.
However, I'm about to finish de-frosting our large freezer and when that's done, I'll beetle off for a swim and I'll dive under the water and scream "*@%&@ Trump!!!!" No one can hear me except the fish and it feels soooooo good!
Isn't Moyun amazing? I can only find one other recording or her and I've used that before - Hotel California.
Your poor hands, Prue! Remember just a very short time ago, you didn't know what a "land shark" was, lol? But that face - he is absolutely perfect and I love his scruffy softness. I've watched that little video a few times!
As for the state of the world, after yesterday's latest, I think we should all be embracing 'Inton' for as long as we can manage it and eating cake with two hands the rest of the time. It's unbearable, especially here, being saturated with a new crisis literally every day.
One arm is healing nicely from the pup, but the other is bruised with those awful old lady red/blue marks where I lost my balance and fell against the door-frame. I so badly need to get back to ballet and retune the balance nerves. Tuesday - hurrah!
The pup looks gorgeous just now - cute overload. Today, with husband's help holding him, I thinned his coat and attempted to 'thin' the face hair. It looked marginally good until he shook himself and all the flat fluff waved in the wind.
Hoorah for Tuesday ballet! Just FYI, I have a really marvellous "rake" that doesn't cut/tear out that special Terrier double-coat, recommended by many other Terrier-folk here. Let me know if you'd like to know more and I'll send you a link. I have never had to strip him yet. (And bonus, a good brushing is considered a much loved spa event here!)
I am fighting the temptation to go for “Inton” myself…but I’ve decided the antidote to the awfulness in our country is to get out into the world and nurture my real-life community/ relationships!
And more time in the woods…if we had a beach nearby I would be there!
Those closeups of the pup are so adorable!! Just too darling for words 😊
Inton probably suits us all for just a while - a breathing space, a pause in the turmoil.
I'm taking one this evening. Have come to the city, had a 'be kind to Prue' night filled with solitude, left the pup with hubbie. His turn tomorrow night. We all pursue Inton our own way, don't we.
Why was he in hospital?😳🥰

Ohhh, poor Boo. So happy he is back to “monster” puppy status 🩷🩷🩷
I’m so glad your little doggo made it through the illness…but what a scare for you and your husband.
So glad he's better! Poor pup. x

I agree - here's to kindness for all.
Just gorgeous even if a little razor sharp.

Sorry to hear about your friend. It’s always hard. Take care.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your dear friend its always hard , but your words help keep us grounded in this crazy world.
I think at this difficult time its the love and support of friends that keep us going , much love xx
Libby, I'm making hearts to mark those friends and family I've lost. It's a nice thing to mark memories. I'll keep them in a bowl.
I'm so sorry, Prue. Sending love. xxx

More power to music, Susan. Peace and calm for me.

Hi Donna. If you see a suit of chain mail, let me know!
I'm so glad you can find peace in the music.

I am still so appalled a week later I can hardly bear it. Let’s all take care and breathe.

Keep going to the river Prue, you do right xo

I hope you had a good night’s sleep without pup duty!
We do…after socializing I always need to go into retreat mode. My happy place 😊
Oh, to be a happy, healthy pup, relishing in the beauty of his world and oblivious to the darkness of ours...
Prue, such soothing, calming writing - you speak so beautifully through the chaos. But goodness me, those tiger teeth....! 🫣🐅
