I do love foraging in the garden, and the "children" love foraging in my pantry πŸ˜‰ , minimal air miles

How beautiful to take this wander through a word with you; and also your garden. I'm left feeling hungry and inspired. I'm even going to pull my "foraging" book off the shelf and make a conscious effort. Right now is the time for nettles and Jack by the Hedge here in England. I just love this, too: "It’s what makes ordinary food spectacular and worth the bending, digging, stretching, picking." Absolutely! A joy to read, as always.

Thank you, Alice. I love growing and finding edibles. Tomorrow is apple, pear and quince picking and I have the last of the zucchini to make into a zucchini and rice filo pie. It's from the River Cottage Veg Book and delish.

I've heard Monty Don talk of nettle tea and they seem to be a popular forage plant in the northern hemisphere. We have quite a few growing on the farm and maybe I need to follow that up. What grows freely for the picking is rather nice, for sure.

Yes! I have dried nettles for tea and I also use the fresh tips in soups. Extremely good for us. You have inspired me to get out and pick some today. We had wild garlic last week...we stumbled upon it on a walk. Time to grab another bunch. Enjoy your picking and producing.
