A sequel to Passages? Yes!! I love books that contain characters from previous books as minor characters in current ones. Somehow, you feel as though you are in familiar places with acquaintances you recognize!
I love your crown! I wore a crown of flowers many years ago and felt more a princess than any gold crown could have made me feel!
Most of my writing is amorphous, Rebecca. I rarely follow any sort of outline. There's a rough idea in my head but I love words to take me with them rather than me take the words. It requires a lot of editing as I move forward but editing to me is a complete joy and so very exciting. New words pop up, an idea escalates and builds.
When I began Act III, I had no idea that Kate (Tatty) would be the victim that she is. It truly places the narrative in a contemporary place with #metoo and #domesticviolence. But this is what happens - suddenly the writer is confronted with a storyline that they had never ever contemplated. It means some heavy and upsetting research as well. But that's for another time...
I really do love that gold crown. It's now sitting with a pile of straw hats on the top of the wardrobe. And this week I can tell you, I'd love it if the wardrobe opened and took me to Narnia, so that I missed my appointment next Monday! XXXX
Like you I really love editing! It's my favourite part of writing anything, actually - having the ideas is pretty fun, and then following the story wherever it's leading me (however frustrating that often turns out to be!) and then editing it into shape! It's always struck me how very like arting writing can be - whether I'm writing or drawing, what I end up with on the paper is always MILES away from what I've first imagined in my head. That's what makes this game soooooo exciting!!!
Sending hugs to you in the build-up to your appointment. You've got this! xxx
Ohhh, I cannot wait for the rest of the new story! Great tease you left us with!
The wreaths are so lovely-what a beautiful project to occupy your mind, hands and creative spirit. That's all important for getting into the right mind-set for developing calm resilience. I've never heard of French Kiss but obviously I need to see it!
Hope this week brings you more creative joy to calm fluttering nerves. xx
I love creating new characters, new stories. They become my friends - I know every little thing about them so it's a personal journey for us all. And it is a form of escapism.
So too the wreaths. One wreath, the silver one, has been consigned to the store of former ballet costumes, but the bronze/gold one is a keeper. There's something about it...
I'm not sure about the calm resilience. I'm trying though. I practice my breathing constantly, directing my thoughts to better things. Today has been a difficult day with all the things one has to have done (tests, paperwork, etc, even my Advanced Care Directive), so I feel a bit punch-drunk. Cripes I'll be glad when it's all over.
So lucky for the rest of us that you create such compelling, vibrant characters! I'm only just starting the fiction journey but so far am enjoying the idea of not being constrained by 'facts as I know them'.
Each of those tedious steps is bringing you closer to it being over with and then the focus can once again be on healing. We'll all be with you across the realms keeping you close and strong in our hearts. ❤️
I really second-guessed myself a lot in respect of talking about hospital but I'm glad I did because like I said to Rebecca, I feel stronger that you are all behind me, cheering me on. Thank you XXXX
What a treat to read a sample of your new story I’m so intrigued and ready for more 😊 I agree, that a story can go in some new directions, completely out of the control of the writer.
I so enjoyed the “Tending Gardens” link, and “visiting” Japan as I read. I just came across an interesting Japanese concept that influences their literary traditions: “kishotenketsu,” which is an Asian narrative structure that uses surprise (rather than conflict) to drive a story forward. Perhaps Act III, taking you by surprise, had a bit of “kishotenketsu” in it!
Your crown is just lovely! I hope all your creative projects help take your mind off the medical issues…something fun to focus on when you can. Sending all positivity to you!
The wreath is beautiful as is the wearer.
Thank you, Mary. That's lovely of you to say. Making the crowns, requiring patience and mindfulness has been just what I needed.
Both you and your crown are beautiful. :).
Thank you, Olga. That's very kind. I really did enjoy making them.
Sending so many good vibes for the surgery and all decisions related to it. A beautiful photo of you and your crown. Hugs dear Prue.
One more week of freedom, Beth.
Will be FILLING every day with joy!!!!

Oh my goodness - you WORE a crown? Details please.
It's funny, when one puts a crown on, it does feel kind of special. I love the gold-ish one - think I might keep that.
I like the goodish one also. Mine was of ivy, baby's breath, cream colored freesia and a thin gold ribbon woven through. It was simple and lovely.
Gosh, yours sounds so lovely. I wish I'd had baby's breath for both of mine but never mind...
Love the crown Prue, sounds like its great therapy , much love xx

Oh, I love an amorphous idea, Prue - it's lovely to follow where such things lead.
Your crown is beautiful. And such a gorgeous picture of you wearing it!

Gosh, noting that one down - the Japanese have such beautiful lyrical words for things that we Westerners take for granted.
Positivity received, Susan, thank you!
