Well done. Yes, he is a champion. And thanks for the blast from the past. Freddie Mercury is such an amazing singer. Hugs my dear. (From tropical Borneo!!!)
Yes, we’ve seen lots. The most amazing one was this morning. It started to rain. We were in a boat. We saw palm fronds moving and realised that there was an orangutan pulling fronds down over his head to protect himself from the rain. We moved across and ended up literally two to three metres from this amazing wild fellow. We sat there for quite some time enjoying his company before moving on.
So envious and so afraid of the orangutans losing their habitat. Bad enough that they're an endangered species. Big Australian organisation trying to protect them. https://www.orangutan.org.au/
Oh gosh! GOSH! What a phenomenal achievement! Stories of such challenges as these always give me goosepimples - as does the pride of those watching. Bravo for a great run!
Oh Mama! When we get to watch our beloved children overcome and thrive...all the goosebumps and tears and how our hearts are so full! How wonderful to be able to share in those moments!
Congratulations to your son for enduring and conquering! Your recounting of his challenge and triumph brought tears to my eyes. I could hear the cowbells, feel the cold and the wet. Yours was the first post I read this morning - thank you! Your son's story encourages me.
So happy for him, what an achievement... especially when doing it in the face of illness. Inspiring. What a joy for the whole family to be there - especially with cowbells!
Your son is amazing - I do recall the original post too. He's extremely handsome and so like his dad as well! I could hear those bells clanking all the way from here ...
Thank you, Elizabeth. I think the weather gave him an added push along. If we'd had a hot day, I suspect things may have been even harder. The thing with the mountain is one never knows. It's just like the sea.
Ah, must have misinterpreted. No doubt that running on an overcast/rainy day tops doing so on a brutally hot day. I haven't run in years--just not my thing anymore--but heat was always something of a deal breaker.
I used to run as well. Stopped after an ankle injury a few years ago and never started again. Every now and then, I'll pound along the beach for 50 metres, worrying that cardiac arrest will be the end result, or a calf will tear, the ankle tendons will rip - all those things that are essentially worn out.
What a wonderful sharing! Congratulations to your son and his achievement, can hear the pride in your recounting. Great photos from your daughter. Definitely the right song for this :)
I could feel that “need to protect and nurture” as you watched your Champion experiencing his own level of pain and discomfort Prue. Then to be at the finish line with a heart full of pride and joy must have felt like a bit of a pendulum swing. Congratulations to both of you! You for modeling courage and your son for continuing the legacy of that modeling and passing it on to his own child. Well done 🤗
It would be nice to think he got his strength from me. But I suspect a lot of it is the fact that he's a father and he wants to live to see his son grow up and have a good life. That's a powerful motivator. And tends to make me weepy.

Borneo! Are you visiting the orangs? One of my most favourite creatures in the world!

Oh wow, just wow, just wow, Beth! Have an incredible time! ❤️

I did have a few tears, Rebecca because I know what it means to him to run and challenge himself mentally and physically.
It’s such a big thing! And I needed a hanky just reading your piece - and he’s not even mine! 🤣
I’m not surprised that you shed some tears. You’re very proud of him, and rightly so. xxx
I cry when people cross finish lines, especially when there’s a cow bell. So needless to say, I’m teary! Beautiful story Prue.
Oh Lindsay! Thank you!

Congratulations to your son!! Incredible.
Thank you. His wife ran her race today and came 15th. I'm so proud of them.

It's lovely cheering everyone on. They're such a happy bunch and they all smile and hold a thumbs-up and some even stop to hug their families.

Oh, thank you, Sue.
Bravo to your son for his courage and his attitude!!!!!!
Thank you, Janice. He's my inspiration.
Congratulations to your champion! He has excelled in so many ways! Sorry the weather was so unsupportive.
Freddie Mercury and Queen were in a league of their own...!

As for heat? Blerk!

Thank you, Judy. I'm still in awe, because when I run after the Pup, I'm exhausted!
PS: Postcards posted today.
Such a wonderful post thank you for sharing. What a fantastic achievement, huge congratulations!
I will pass it on. Thank you.

Thank you. That's very kind.
Your son is an amazingly impressive person! All my best congratulations!🎉 🏃♂️
I wouldn’t doubt that he gets his strength and persistence and “never-give-up-ness” from his incredible mother 😊
Love the cowbells!!! What a glorious way to cheer someone on!

Courage comes in so many forms and creates so many results. I'm proud of you for assisting in the creation of such a human. Thanks! J
Thank you, Janice. He's a wonderful son and an inspiration.
