Yep, I'm on the butt-end of the world. And heaven it is too.
Ballet is amazing. I've been back at it for nearly 8 years now and nothing about it is easy or gentle - a real mind and body exercise every week both at the barre and on the floor. As good as a full gym workout despite the ethereal beauty of everything we do. We're about to learn choreography for the Spanish Dance from Swan Lake. Yikes!
Thanks Judy. It's all made of stash, all different brands and I'm loving doing it. In fact, I often have to give myself a talking-to and get on with hearts.
Oh Prue - winter solstice and over here we've just entered our summer solstice. So... as your days begin to get longer ours begin to get shorter. And, you know what? Both of us are going to "blink" and find ourselves changing places... LOL.
Whilst I enjoy winter, the crisp air and dew on cobwebs, frosted blades of grass, I love summer because I can then live in the other world - daily swims beneath the sea where it is so far removed from the world's problems it's heaven. So beautiful. The year is moving on at the speed of light.
Such beautiful words, Prue! I'm so glad you got into the sea - that's amazing! And I'm so pleased for all your celebrations this week - you've got my weekend off to a fabulous start - your positivity and energy are infectious! 😊
Thank you so much for linking to Chicken Scratch, Prue. Humbling and affirming all at once.
I smiled a little at the layers required to get you through a cold snap in the 40s (4 C?), and thought to myself, "That's not even that cold!" Still, solstice or not, I am gobsmacked at the idea of swimming in those temperatures. My true weenie nature comes barreling into view. I couldn't even swim in Sydney in September! I love the exhilaration you find within the patterns of your days, and especially the squidgy-yum of your little grandchild. Delightful, all of it!
I do love your reflections, Elizabeth and feel you earn recommendations with. bells on!
Re winter here: cold for us is an absolute joke compared to the USA, Canada and parts of the UK. Snow on the ground is rare - maybe once every 6-7 years we might get a bit that's melted by lunchtime.
But Canberra is different - it's set well back from the eastern seaboard and is half way up to the Snowy Mountains where our ski resorts are. A minus overnight isn't unusual, although to be fair, we also have many minuses on the farm and on the way to the cottage by the sea. But it's a rare day that the winter temps stay in single digits.
I have to be honest and say we're absolute wimps compared to Northern Hemisphere folks.
It's winter where you live! So funny. I forgot for a moment. Ballet sounds fab. I need a gentle movement class.

So exciting!
"a squidgy-yum" - describes my great-granddaughter perfectly.
You have a great grand daughter!
Yes, that feeling when you just want to hug them and never let go...
Hi Prue, Yes I do - she is 15 months and adorable. Hug and never let her go for sure.
Your bag is coming along, and I love the colours.

Speaking of swimming beneath the sea - have you watched "My Octopus Teacher"? If not, I highly recommend :-)
Yes, I have.

Oooh, that's so good to hear! Thank you, Rebecca!

Hmmm...maybe I made an ignorant assumption... Just saw a post from my friend in Canberra about temps of -7!! Ouch!
No, not at all.

What a beautiful read and thank you so much for sharing my little missive Prue x
Love your account, Sally. It's like sitting in a fragrant kitchen chatting over a cup of tea.
That’s the best compliment I could hope for x
