Whew! What a relief and a joy to hear the lambkins made it and now are frolicking in the their best life so far. And that YOU get to enjoy watching them.
Also, what a jolly photo of your brother. How fun to see the old gang too.
There is something so refreshing to reconnect with people you have known since the early days. There is comfort in them knowing your early self so well, and now getting to see where the trajectory has spun our lives. It is perfect grist for storytellers! Just like making up stories about the people we watch in cafes and restaurants. We do that too! Endlessly entertaining to ourselves. Hope the healing continues!
Funny, isn't it? Making up backstories. I have always told my kids to give people a bit of leeway because you never know what the backstory is.
It was funny too that I didn’t even recognise some of my brother’s friends until they said their names and instantly I recalled the fifty years younger person and there it was - same bone structure, same eyes. We did have fun reminiscing.
That is so true and great advice about not making assumptions about people because we have no idea what their back story is! We also don't know what horrific thing they might be dealing with right now, and this is as well as they can cope...
Happy sigh. I’ve told so many people about your lambs. I’m so glad that the weather turned warmer. We’re still struggling with the cold up this way but tomorrow is predicted to be 18, then 21 on Sunday!!!! By far the warmest day in many months.
Loving your explorations with the Pup. And I’m glad your foot has been treated and is healing nicely. Enjoy Spring! Hugs dear Prue.
We had a ewe deliver triplets overnight and it was such a cold and frost-bitten night. all doing well. There have been 4 sets this season. I much prefer twinning as there are less problems.
We’re due for 13 today and 18-21 tomorrow but I have little faith in predictions and just wait and see. But oh Beth, wouldn’t a little bit of warmth be nice? I feel I’m tempting Fate knowing that by January/Feb I’ll be complaining bitterly about the heat. Just one of those whinge-ing farmers!
Beach Boys 8-track was my favorite for years as a child! Thanks for that and also 'gird your loins' which is such an impactful, real expression that I have not used of late but soon will. Always enjoy your tails and tales. Have a great week! ~J
How I love reading about your adventures through life Prue. Your wee fluff ball full of joie de vivre. Farm life extraordinaire. And the fact that you and your brother have the same birthday is just perfect. Neither can forget the other’s birthday 😊
"...nature, no matter nurture..." This is so true, and as much as I have come to accept it, it always also breaks my heart a little. I'm glad the forecasts were overblown. I'm glad you kept the Wobble from a painful lesson. Yeouch! Can't imagine how much it would hurt to literally take it on the nose.
I sometimes wonder if I live too much of a secluded life to do the kind of writing I love. Then again, if I were inclined to hang out at pubs, I'd likely not be doing it to further the stories! 😬
What a GREAT picture of your brother, and to have pulled off a surprise like that: TERRIFIC!
That Aussie sun is keeping a handful of doctors in the money, isn't it? We have a similar situation here, because there are so many farmers and fishermen (we call them watermen)! Glad you're okay.
By the way, I remember loving (possibly learning) "Gird your loins from The Devil Wears Prada. Such a fun expression!
What wonderful news about the lambing! I’m so happy for you and your family—sometimes Mother Nature comes through!
How extraordinary, that you and your younger brother share the same birthdays. I am right there with you on people-watching! I’m not a pub person either, but yesterday I attended a baby shower and my writerly spirit had a great old time!
I always love your ballet pics—seeing you always inspires me to keep moving and staying strong as the years roll on 😊
I can just imagine what an emotional roller coaster your brother's birthday party would be - I have 2 big bros so I get what brothers can be like! So many tangled memories and feelings and I am sure he was deeply touched even if he may not have let on, haha. Happy to hear the lambie-ones are okay, the weather is so thoroughly mixed up now.
And lastly, tenacious Prue, walking/bounding/dancing already even with padding for the shoe! You are insanely inspiring on so many levels. (Yes - you are!) BTW I recognize that Terrier-Pulling-Let-Me-At-Him stance only too well. (As do the squirrels in our back garden, lol) xo
I think he was just blown away. It was such fun meeting folk again. And remembering adventures that he and his mates had. How nice was the lady who conceived and organised the whole thing?! A really good and positive night.
As for the Terrier, there’s a small story coming in this week’s newsletter, if I ever find time to put pen to paper.
The truth of it, Lindsay, is that pretty well every week I like blue. Show me a pile of things in a rainbow of colours and I’ll always pick the blue. Not very adventurous...

You too, Janice. Get those good vibrations!
how incredibly special to share a birthday with your beloved brother! Happy Birthday to you both! Long live surfing beach music! Happy Spring.
Three cheers for Mum and Dad for managing it, I say! And our birthdays are actually in October - 70th for him, 74 for me. Thank you for your wishes.
The Beachboys leave a great legacy, don’t they?
Cheers!

I’m liking blue today too! I smiled when I read that line 💙
