Sadness...
... for Knots in the String.
Bondi.
There is nothing that can be said that hasn’t already been written, spoken, recorded.
Nevertheless:
I always thought my Australia was better than this, bigger than this. How easily is my naïvete shaken? When Port Arthur happened, I was living back home on my island, only an hour by car from where the shooter went on his rampage. There’s nothing to mitigate that tragedy except that the antagonist was completely mentally incompetent.
In the case of Bondi, it is alleged it was pure hatred. In my country! A place I’ve always considered safe, laid back and essentially accepting. The ‘She’ll be right, mate…’ attitude that is diminishing by the second.
I hope that hate crime is nationally enshrined. Here in our state of Tasmania, hate crime was legislated and passed in both Upper and Lower Houses a couple of days before Bondi occurred. I also hope that the national gun laws will be tightened even more, something that Port Arthur motivated.
My thought is not to inflame a situation nor to condemn – something that all politicians and leaders from any country needs to consider when pontificating on a grieving country and populace at this time. All any of us can do is stand with the Jewish population of Australia because in Australia I still believe that we are all one people, no matter from where we might come.
Music?

There is so much bad news worldwide it's truly stunning, saddening, maddening and what happens next? J
I'm so sorry, Prue. It's top of mind for me, too. Your words are well chosen and affirming. How I wish they weren't necessary. Hugs to you...you all...us all.
