congratulations Prue, quite an achievement no matter how many times you have done it before.

Pleased to see the lad has been practicing for his christmas shredder role, seems to have mastered it.

Your christmas day plan sounds just lovely, christmas can be such a stressful and pressured time for the person tasked with co-ordinating it all.

Thanks so much, Kate. Just between you and me, I’m getting slower at it. During Covid, I found a whole world that I couldn’t see and desperately wanted to - right outside my gate. So now I put life and experiences first and writing second. That said, writing is one of my mainstays and so I’m glad all the technical stuff is done and I can get back to just writing for the love of it.

Oh, the lad! He’s a confetti-maker, an office shredder! Imagine if he’d found my manuscript!

I think Christmas is over-rated. I just want to be with my family - all the rest is commercial hype. I’m such a Grinch…

My sister and I were saying today how grinchy we’ve become. It feels like it’s just about spending money, being a good consumer.

I’ve seen too many people wait to do the things they love only to find their time cut short.

I love the actual physical act of writing, and often write pages of nothing just so I can write. I don’t think I have a story in me, for me it’s not the story it’s the sound and feel of pen on paper.

Couldn’t agree more. If I love shopping at all, it’s only to bookshops and old-fashioned stationers. The pens, the papers, the writing cards, the stamps and inks - sheer joy.

Thanks so much, Rosy.

I went into the whole independent publishing thing so long ago with absolutely no expectations and I still maintain the same philosophy.

There may have been screeds of novels published in 2024, but there are potentially a billion titles out there and I said to my husband, it’s like dropping a stone into the deepest abyss known to man.

So be it. Life’s too short to worry about it. I just want to keep writing because it’s what I love. Take care and cheers.

Oh my goodness I am—once again—so in awe of your persistence and ability to focus and finish! Huge congratulations and hugs! It's now purchased and ready to open on my kindle and I can't wait to get started. I was struggling to read another book so I've happily ditched it now for yours that I am REALLY looking forward to reading. Your Christmas Day sounds perfect to me. Enjoy beloved time with family and certainly celebrate your accomplishment!

Oooh, thank you, Sabrina. As I said to Lynne, happy to get down on my knees and kiss your feet!

It’s funny isn't it, that I feel I need to say I hope the novel is your cup of tea. If not, feel free to ditch. In the end, we all know what we like to read.

It’s a load off the shoulders just to get it out there. I now have the freedom to do what I like for another 12 months! Of which writing is, of course, part.

Have a great weekend and thank you again.XXXX

No need to give permission to not enjoy as I really enjoyed Passage and all the Red Thread series, so I am eagerly awaiting another delightful story of yours.

And yes, enjoy the well-deserved shoulder lightness and freedom to choose how you spend your time. (Until you get right back here once again!) ❤️

My neighbour’s dog is addicted to paper and tissues too. Just adores nabbing them and shredding them. Thank goodness it wasn’t your manuscript!! A terrifying thought.

Congratulations on the book. Hopefully I’ll find time to read Passage over the Christmas break. Fingers crossed that it finds a large, addicted audience. Hugs dear Prue. Enjoy that quiet Christmas. Mine will be lovely and quiet too. 🤗🤗

Congratulations Prue!!! Best wishes for the holiday season. And as always, I look forward to living vicariously through the good weather in Australia. 18 cm of the white stuff and cold, blustery weather yesterday in Montreal.

Congratulations Prue! I look forward to the hard copy version being available in the new year! Having taken many years of ballet when I was MUCH younger, I’m especially eager to read it, and also always love the updates on your own ballet achievements.

Merry relaxing Christmas!

Brava, Prue -- and good golly, what you manage to accomplish is remarkable! Fifteen years of writing and publishing *after* a full career. And you're still swimming, dancing, baking, tending, sewing, and spending time with your beloveds. I do hope you see it all as the achievement it is, just being who you are!

Womble's antics are funny and, for the most part, harmless. I can picture him zooming around making mischief.

I think your approach to Christmas is just right. It'll be just the two of us this year. Not a first but always an adjustment. We'll have a quiet day together, and it's be wonderful. Wishing you so much joy!

Thank you, Elizabeth.

I think if we drill down into everyone’s lives, they are as busy, active, full, whatever. But some use it on Substack for writing and some just live it.

The Womblie-pup is so overcome today after the shredding of yesterday and a swim (well, the water went past his belly, even if he didn’t try dog paddle) that he is stretched on the windowseat. The seabreeze wafts over him through the window and I can hear the wind-driven wash along the sand. I wonder if the sound is soporific for him. Heavens’ knows it is for me!

We are only a party of six for Christmas dinner - it’s easy. In a couple of weeks and a half, it’ll be over and we’ll be heading into the vagaries of north and south climates and thinking of Easter eggs. Well … we may not be thinking of them but the shops will make sure we know the Bunny's on its way!

Sure, we're all busy in our own ways, but my experience suggests you are a special kind of busy. It's in your blood. ;)

Dear Prue, this comment is so late, but it was such a delight to read about your publishing Act III, and to hear your writing and “authorly” journey! I saw your body of work on your Amazon author page and all I can say is “WOW”!

I can imagine that this week, sadness is overriding your celebrations. Yet I hope when you’re able, you can celebrate this amazing accomplishment. As I struggle to find time and brain space for my novel in progress, you’re a wonderful inspiration to me!
